Olga “Loto” Williams: Turning Pain Into Purpose

savannahwomanmagazine's avatar

For Olga “Loto” Williams, life has been a journey of faith, resilience, reinvention, and service. A Savannah native, wife, mother, entrepreneur, Master Cosmetologist, salon owner, REALTOR®, educator, and founder of Dominique’s World, Olga has built a life centered on helping others while navigating seasons that have profoundly shaped who she is.

Above all, Olga describes herself as a woman of faith who strives to honor God in every area of her life. Whether she is helping a woman feel beautiful, helping a family find a home, mentoring young people, or serving in her community, her goal is to leave people better than she found them. Her faith, family, resilience, and love for people are at the heart of everything she does.

Born in Savannah, Olga spent portions of her childhood living in Europe and North Carolina because of her father’s military career. She also spent a short season living in Charlotte before returning home to Savannah. After experiencing life in different places, returning to Savannah gave her an even deeper appreciation for her roots, her family, and the city where her story began.

What is something you’re especially proud of?

I’m especially proud that I never allowed one title or one season of my life to define me. I’m a wife, mother, entrepreneur, Master Cosmetologist, educator, REALTOR®, and the founder of Dominique’s World, which I created in memory of my son. I’m proud that through every transition, I’ve continued to grow, reinvent myself, and find ways to serve and encourage others while remaining true to who I am.

What has been one of the biggest lessons life has taught you?

Life has taught me that you can experience tremendous pain and still have purpose. I’ve learned that I may not always understand what God allows, but I can trust Him through it. Some of the hardest seasons of my life have strengthened my faith, changed the way I love people, and taught me to appreciate life differently. I’ve learned to keep living, keep growing, and keep allowing God to use my story.

“You can experience tremendous pain and still have purpose.”

What does success mean to you?

Success to me is bigger than money, titles, or recognition. It’s being able to look at my life and know that I honored God, loved my family well, used the gifts He gave me, and made a difference in somebody else’s life. I want to enjoy the blessings God gives me, but I also want my life to have meaning. If the people I encounter are better because I was there, that feels like success to me.

What advice would you give another woman who is where you once were?

I would tell her not to count herself out because life didn’t go the way she planned. Give yourself permission to grow, change, start over, and become someone you never imagined you could be. Trust God even when you don’t understand the season you’re in, and don’t be afraid to take the next step. Some of the things that felt like they were going to break me actually helped build the woman I am today.

What is one word that describes the woman you are becoming? Why?

Intentional. At this stage of my life, I want to be intentional about everything. My faith, my family, my relationships, my businesses, my time, and even my joy. I’ve learned that life is too precious to simply go through the motions. I want the way I live, love, serve, and show up for people to have meaning.

“If the people I encounter are better because I was there, that feels like success to me.”

A Life of Purpose

Olga’s story is also one of turning profound loss into a reason to continue serving others. She is the founder of Dominique’s World, an organization created in memory of her son, Dominique, who was tragically murdered at the age of 17. Through her experiences, Olga has chosen to encourage, mentor, and uplift others while continuing to grow through every season of her own life.

Her connection to Savannah has also brought meaningful moments of recognition. One of the honors she treasures most was being selected as one of the Grand Marshals for Savannah’s 2026 MLK Parade. The moment carried an especially personal significance because her grandmother, Frenchye Bynes, also served as a marshal. For Olga, it was a beautiful full-circle moment and one she says she will always treasure.

Olga Williams’ story is ultimately about choosing to keep moving forward, even when life takes an unexpected turn. It is about faith through uncertainty, finding purpose through pain, allowing yourself to evolve, and making a conscious decision to use your life to positively impact others.

For the woman Olga is becoming, the word is intentional. That intention extends beyond what she accomplishes. It is reflected in how she chooses to live, love, serve, and show up for the people around her.

Thank you, Olga, for sharing your story, your faith, and your journey with Savannah Woman. We’re honored to spotlight a woman who continues to turn pain into purpose and use her experiences to encourage and uplift others.
